In the USA, in March 2026, CPI index for consumer price inflation (source Bureau of Labor Statistics) reached 3.3% in annual change, and 0.9% compared to February 2026. This is a direct effect of the blockage of the Strait of Hormuz, through which 20% of world oil and gas transits. Energy prices jumped by 12.5% year-on-year and by 10.9% in one month.
