In mid-April, the EU Council reshuffled the deck on the implementation of extra-financial reporting and the duty of care. A major postponement was agreed and a compromise on substantive changes to these two texts, which now form the ‘Omnibus package’. This directive still has to be adopted by Parliament by the end of the year.
In Brussels, the postponement of the entry into law of the CSRD and the duty of care is now definitive. On April 14, 2025, the Council of the EU adopted the first part of the Omnibus package. The entry into law of the CSRD has been postponed by a year for companies that do not have to publish such details in 2025, and by 2 years for the duty of care directive.
