If many declining retail assets are not easy to transform into residential or offices – as restructuring costs can be high – more and more players such as Intu and Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield have taken this strategic shift. They have been carrying out extension programs, using sq.m initially reserved for “retail” to develop housing projects.
