On March 15th, the Nihonbashi Takashimaya department store became the 3rd unit (and the largest) for the Japanese franchise’s Pokemon Center, covering 1,300 sq.m. Here fans can buy soft toys and accessories and enjoy a café selling a range of foods including themed curries and pancakes in the shape of the Pokemon character Pikachu. This is another example of traditional department stores embracing new empirical concepts, making up for declining sales in traditional operations.
