As retail sales decreased by 0.6% in Hong Kong in the first nine months of 2016, Abercrombie & Fitch will close its flagship on Pedder Street (2,380 sq.m on four-storeys) located in the Central district of Hong Kong. The expiry of the lease was due for 2019. Rival Forever 21 will also close the flagship on Causeway Bay in 2017. Burberry has reduced the size of the Hong Kong flagship and the British retailer is negotiating sharp rental reductions at every local store in H.K.
