With 20% of the world's cotton coming from Xinjiang, a 2nd legal action has been launched in France against Uniqlo, Inditex and Skechers. In Brussels, the Commission is considering moving towards legislation identical to that in the U.S.A., with a reversal of the burden of proof.
The European Uyghur Institute of Paris and several NGOs have filed a 2nd complaint with the Paris court. They accuse Uniqlo, Inditex and Skechers of participating in the surveillance of the Xinjiang region, and in the management and construction of labour camps where Uyghurs are illegally detained and forced to help pick cotton.
