A revolution at SAP: 9000 employees elect the first work’s council in the company’s history

After months of battle between management and three employees members of IG Metall, SAP, European leader of computing and only company of the DAX 30 (German stock index) which does not have a work's council, will finally elect one on Wednesday June 21, 2006. (Ref. 06629)

Created in 1972, SAP lived 34 years without a work’s council. Tomorrow, this era will end. 9000 employees out of the 11000 German employees of the company (35 900 in the world) will vote to elect 37 of the 400 candidates who appear on ten different electoral rolls. This high number of candidates astonishes everyone. During a general assembly of the staff which took place at the beginning of March 2006, 91 % of the 5632 participants had indeed voted against the election of a work’s council. Neve
