At the start of the week, the government of Mauricio Macri, President since 2015, loudly announced that the country’s big businesses had committed to halting any more redundancies ‘despedidos’ for a minimum of three months, whilst a draft law supported by the unions seeking to ban redundancies for 180 days is currently being debated in parliament.
