Argentina: the success of telework motivates a new bill to regulate the conditions to work from home

The Ministry of Labor is going to present a bill defining a legal framework for telework, which concerns 2 million Argentinean workers (12.5 percent of the working population).  The text aims to guarantee the full application of workers’ rights for people who work from a distance – home or a place that isn’t the company.  One controversial measure is the obligation for businesses to cover all telework-related expenses.

The need for a law supervising telework and defining a clear legal framework for the relationship between teleworkers and their employer was acknowledged by the Argentinean Minister of Labor, who will send a bill on the subject to the lawmakers this year.
