Belgium: a measure to enable seniors recently hired to take vacations

A royal decree passed on January 24, 2007 is establishing "senior vacations" to enable employees aged 50 years old and more who are starting up a new activity to enjoy four weeks of vacation, even though they have not acquired any rights yet. (Ref. 070122)

Starting January 1, 2007, employees aged at least 50 who are starting a new paid occupation in the private sector and who are not entitled to the 4 paid vacation weeks after a period of complete unemployment or disability during the previous year, can take senior vacations, thus completing their incomplete right to vacations.
