Three employee unions are looking to put pressure on the government by organizing a major assembly for March 11, 2015 in Brussels. Even if the unions, with the exception of the socialist body the FGTB, having ratified the inter-professional agreements might have suggested an improvement in relations, the unions still oppose certain governmental measures including those that freeze the inflation linked wage index, hamper purchasing power, and alter unemployment conditions. The March 11 assembly may well be just the beginning of tougher action down the line.
The common Belgian union front comprising the Socialist FGTB, the Christian CSC and the Liberal CGSLB has organized for March 11, 2015, “concentrated group of militants” to assemble in Brussels so as “to put pressure on the government” stated the employee unions’ representatives.
