At the end of July the Belgian government came to agreement over tax reforms to shift some of employees’ tax burden to other areas. The first arrangements for this were presented at the close of the Council of Ministers meeting on August 28.
“Jobs and social protection are the Government’s DNA,” declared Prime Minister Charles Michel in a statement about implementing the tax shift reforms when the government resumed from the summer break (following the July agreement, c.f. article No. 9210). This tax reform is key in concluding the 2016 budget to be presented to the European Commission by October 15.
