Belgium: reaction of social partners to the declaration of federal policy

The Belgian business federation (FEB) welcomed the bill tabled by the government. Featuring a budget with O.3% in excess of gross domestic product, ie. One billion euros. “It is a positive step that the government has made toward this objective while seeking to define a policy centred on more growth and employment”, pointed out Rudi Thomaes, delegate of the FEB, quoting specifically the further reduction of labour costs on shift work, night work and overtime. He also welcomed the extension of partial dispensation in the calculation of the tax discount by employers on the wages of operational research staff holding a masters degree.
