Joint trade union strike action was organized for December 8 as the third in a series of actions protesting the center-right government’s austerity measures. Strike action in Brussels and in the provinces of Brabant wallon and Brabant flamand totally blocked transport in the capital including bus, tramway, metro, and train. This is the final in a series of three strikes in front of a nationwide strike set for December 15 in an environment where both the government and the unions are hardening their respective stances.
