On Wednesday October 15, the three main Belgian trade union organizations announced a series of actions from November 6, in protest over the new rightwing government’s policy program. The three bodies, Socialist, Christian, and Liberal target especially a temporary wage freeze, the raising of the state pension age to 67, and public sector spending cuts.
Union response was not long in the coming. Charles Michel the new prime Minister had barely finished his government’s announcement before the Parliament by the time the unions announced a united counter-attack that will take the form of a series of actions to take place throughout the country.
