Workers in the Brazilian oil industry are getting an 8.56 percent wage increase via the new collective labor agreement 2013/15, signed on Monday, October 28, 2013 by the FUP union (Gas Workers Unified Federation, affiliated with the biggest union confederation) and the public oil company, Petrobrás. The deal signed after one week of strike and demonstrations, sometimes violently repressed, against the auctioning of exploitation on a major offshore oil deposit, won by Total, notably. Within this framework, the FUP secured the creation of a guarantee fund for the employees of subcontracting firms. (Ref. 130683)
