The 6 representative unions in Brazil – the Single Workers’ Union (CUT), Força syndical, the General Workers’ Union (UGT), the New Workers’ Union (NSCT), the Brazilian Workers’ Union (CTB) and the General Brazilian Workers’ Union (CGTB) – agreed to develop a joint program to present in 2014, an election year in Brazil, at their first meeting of the year on Wednesday, January 15.

Gathered at the CUT’s headquarters in São Paulo on January 15, the 6 representative unions in Brazil decided to present a single list of claims to the candidates to the Presidency and leadership of the Federation’s 27 States – including the federal district of Brasilia – during the demonstration that will be organized in the capital on April 9. The general election will be held on October 5. Unions want to stand united regardless of the candidates they choose to support.
