Last January, the government presented amendment of the Labor Code under the umbrella “for alleviating the administrative burden for the business.” This bill, and the Parliament debates it has caused, has led to a warm discussion among the social partners.
In late January, the Government approved a draft Law for amendment of the Labor Code and the document was submitted to the Parliament. According to the procedure, the draft Law was discussed in the Permanent Parliamentarian Commissions on Labor and Social Policy and on the Education and Science, and then, at the beginning of February, discussed by the Parliament and approved “at the first reading.” The main changes proposed by the Government and their rationale are:
