Carrefour: amendment to the anticipation agreement establishing the EWC

The amendment to Carrefour’s EWC agreement provides that UNI Europa shall appoint a CICE Secretary and may appoint a representative invited to the meetings of the CICE and its steering committee, who will also act as “liaison” between the work done by the group’s management and UNI.  Employee representatives are also appointed by UNI, chosen from its members, for a 4-year renewable term.  There cannot be more than 30 union representatives within the CICE.  Currently, there are 29 from 8 countries where the group is present – France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Poland, Greece, Romania and Cyprus.  For plenary meetings, management and employee representatives may be assisted by observers.  Furthermore, the agreement provides that UNI shall appoint an observing representative in each candidate country for EU membership when Carrefour is present.
