At the outset, the positions were fairly far apart and the employees’ representatives were eager to move forward. We started by signing an agreement on the setting up of an ad hoc negotiating group (see article n°070797). During the negotiation we won significant concessions. According to the initial management proposals, a country should represent at least 30% of the group workforce in order to obtain a second representative on the EWC. Consequently, apart from France which won 7 seats (80% of the workforce), all the other countries got only one representative, even where the workforce was sizeable. The threshold was thus lowered to 3%, which represents about 4200 employees, thereby offering a second seat to Italy, Greece or Poland.
