While the Parliament adopted, in April, a law transposing, a little late, the European laws concerning anti-discrimination, the president of the Czech Republic, Vaclav Klaus, announced on May 16 that he vetoed this text, which he deems "useless" and "counterproductive". (Ref. 080402)
The law especially sets the principle of equal access to education, health and employment regardless of age, race, national origin, gender, disability, sexual or religious preferences. It finishes the transposition of Directive 2000/43 regarding racial equality and Directive 2000/78 establishing a general framework for equal treatment in employment and occupation.
