Denmark: the flexicurity model is under pressure

Structural evolution of society, labour shortages, sustained high growth - but not for a long time, according to OECD forecasts : Danish flexicurity, so admired in Europe, would be under pressure. (Ref. 070087)

Denmark will report the lowest growth rate among the 30 OECD countries between 2008 and 2012 – about 1.1 % per annum, compared to 2.6 % on average in these countries – according to the OECD. “Currently the Danish economy has a sustained high growth thanks to a keen demand. It is cyclic. Flexicurity is a model which functions perfectly in this moment, but in the next twenty years, Denmark will find itself facing a challenge: society, very homogeneous until now, will become increasingly heterogen
