While the project of creating a large manufacturing union federation, via the merger of the union federations of metalworkers (EMF), chemistry (EMCEF) and textile workers (ETUF:TCL), isn’t causing debate in itself, some organizations would have liked more time to talk about the political orientation, which they believe is currently missing. This quickening over the past few months can be explained by the window of opportunity given by the simultaneous departures of the previous leaders of the three organizations – Peter Scherrer for the EMF, Reinhard Reibsh for the EMCEF and Patrick Itschert from the ETUF: TCL - freeing the talks from settling people’s fates. However, this didn’t block debates or prevent organizations from giving an opinion.
