Today October 1, Marianne Thyssen (a Flemish Centrist), Commissioner-designate responsible for Employment and Social Affairs gave a hearing to the European Parliament. Reflecting her partisanship for a social market economy, she sees her primary mission as succeeding in getting social aspects included in European Economic policies and also that employment funds be better utilized.
“We should not have to choose between competitiveness and equity.
