EU: ETUC addresses memorandum to German Presidency on expectations regarding social matters

The European Confederation of the trade unions (ETUC) addressed to the new presidency of the European Union a memorandum in which it draws the attention of the presidency on the social priorities for the six next months. (Ref. 070044)

The ETUC wants the German presidency to bring its support and back several legislative processes:

  • Unblock the negotiations on the revision of the “working time” directive (see story n° 061112). The ETUC wants to fight to end the opt-out and for “balanced solutions ” on the definition of standby time, while respecting the jurisprudence of the Court of Justice of the European Communities.
