EU: European Commission proposes network of public employment services
The European Commission proposes improving public employment services (PES) in the Member States to solve the issue of the 26 million jobseekers across the EU. On Monday, June 17, European Commissioner for Social Affairs László Andor presented a draft decision aiming to provide jobseekers with a network of public employment services, which given them advice on possibilities of training, apprenticeship, internship or even employment, and also help supply meet demand adequately. This is precisely what the German, Spanish, French and Italian Ministers of Labor asked when they met in Rome on Friday, June 14. (Ref. 130408)
