On 25 June 2025, France Assureurs – the employers’ association for the insurance industry – and five representative trade unions signed the sector’s first three-year agreement aimed at promoting the employment of experienced workers. Covering 161,300 employees, the agreement establishes a general framework for future negotiations within insurance companies employing 300 or more people.
The text signed by France Assureurs and the CFDT, CFE-CGC, CFTC, FO and UNSA trade unions on 25 June is the first sector agreement dedicated to older workers in France. Only the CGT did not sign. The social partners in the insurance sector began addressing the issue ahead of the national inter-professional agreement (ANI) on employing experienced workers, launching a dedicated working group in July 2024. The agreement is therefore based on the ANI to outline the general framework for professional support for older workers, as the transposition law was not finally adopted until 10 July 2025.
