EU: European metal, chemical and textile employers in favor of framework conditions that ease prompt restructurings and transitions

Different scenarios.  According to the three organizations – the Council of European Employers of the Metal, Engineering and Technology-Based Industries (CEEMET), the European Chemical Employers Group (ECEG) and the European Apparel and Textile Organization (EURATEX) – restructurings are a key competitiveness factor within the framework of globalization, particularly in the industry.  “Transformation and restructuring of companies are a normal evolution in the pattern of successful companies.”  They point to the corporate dimension of restructuring which is “based on the strategic and economic decisions of an individual company (or group of companies).”  They believe a European strategy needs to “make it possible for companies to deal with both crisis-induced restructuring scenarios and restructuring scenarios prompted by strategic considerations.”
