Cross-industry European social partners (the ETUC on the union side, BusinessEurope, the UEAPME - European association of craft small and medium sized entreprise - and the CEEP on the managerial side) are officially going to sign, on April 26, 2007, an autonomous framework agreement concerning violence and harassment at work (see our story n°070064.) this agreement should be set up by national union and employers organizations by 2010. This agreement defines violence as physical, psychological and/or sexual, whether they are isolated or systematic. They can happen as part of a hierarchal part as well as between colleagues or even be due to parties foreign to the work relationship (users, customers, patients or students). In the last hypothesis, it is planned that the agreement’s provisons will only apply “when appropriate”.
