EU: European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) and BusinessEurope respond to Green Paper on Restructurings

Enough good practices, now on to political action.  This is the first message the European trade union organization wants to send the European Commission.  It believes that the Green Paper, which aims to better develop and spread good practices in terms of anticipation and management of change, does not bring an appropriate answer to current challenges.  From then on, there should be a “European legal framework on the anticipation of change and restructuring” with “minimum standards that will make it possible to avoid bad practices,” not an upgrade of the reference orientations the social partners adopted in 2003 which were “never formally adopted by the interprofessional social partners” as the ETUC remembers, where the Commission wanted to take the social partners.  BusinessEurope doesn’t think this ‘upgrade’ is necessary either, since it still considers these principles as valid.
