November 14 will be a historical landmark for European unionism. On the one hand, for the first time in the history of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), there were general strikes at the same time in Spain (2nd this year), Portugal (2nd), Italy and Greece (5th). On the other, 15 EU (and 3 non-EU) countries organized demonstrations or actions against the austerity measures, still answering the ETUC's call for a European Day of Action and Solidarity.
