In a judgment rendered on July 17, 2008, the Court of Justice of the European Communities extends the protection against discrimination provided for in Directive 2000/78 to the parents of disabled children. Indeed, they can be treated less favorably than other workers or suffer from harassment because of their child's disability. (Ref. 080595)
Facts. In the case submitted to the Court, a secretary claimed that she suffered from the discriminatory actions of her employer since her disabled child was born.
