EU: restructurings and “capacity building” on social partners’ agenda in the textile/clothing sector

Next February 20th, the social dialogue committee of the textile/clothing sector, gathering Euratex for employers and the ETUF-TCL for the trade-union side, will meet for their first meeting of 2007. The anticipation of the restructurings, a project in progress, will be pursued. Social partners will also deal with a second subject : the participation of new Member States in European sectoral social dialogue. (ref. 070092)

The social partners in the textile/clothing sector adopted at the end of the year 2006 their work program for this year. Here are the two issues the social dialogue committee will deal with this year:

  • “capacity building”:
  • The aim is to encourage and help the social partners of the new Member States – or candidate States- to take part in the European sectoral social dialogue, in order for the latter to represent the new geography of the EU. This project will involve three employers’ federation
