Today, March 24, Eurociett, the European Confederation of Private Employment Services representing temporary agency work and the European trade union federation for private services UNI Europa signed a joint declaration to policymakers containing recommendations for regulating the temporary agency labor sector. The two major thrusts of the recommendations are allowing labor markets to benefit from the intermediary role of these agencies and also guaranteeing transferability of temporary workers’ labor rights.
The social partners call on policymakers to:
– achieve appropriate regulation on TAW in order to enable smoother transitions in the labour market,*
– update and adapt social protection systems to provide comparable access for all workers regardless of their employment contract,
– encourage transferability of rights especially for short-term employment contracts, since « the effective access to social benefits might be a challenge for workers with contracts of short duration as they may not rea
