EU: the European Commission wants to extend the field of application of the anti-discrimination legislation

At the international conference on the rights of the LGBT which took place in Montreal (Canada), on July 29, Vladimir Spidla, the European Commissioner for employment, social affairs and equal opportunities gave some details on the drafts prepared by the European Commission as regards fight against discriminations. Vladimir Spidla first pointed out the existence of the directive 2000/78 which prohibits any discrimination on grounds of age, disability, religion, beliefs and sexual orientation when it comes to employment and vocational training.
