EU : the European Parliament passes a report on the implementation of the directive on « cross-boarder posting »

Euro-deputies passed on October 6th a report on the implementation of the directive 96/71 on workers' posting. This report stresses the ineffectiveness of this text which is supposed to guarantee to posted workers the same working conditions than that of the local workforce, and suggests to reinforce the supervision in order to reach this goal. The report on the implementation of directive 96/71 on workers’ posting is the initiative of Euro MP Elisabeth Schroedter (Greens, Germany) (see our articles n° 06641 and 06898). Its origin is the concern of the deputies to guarantee the detached workers’ rights in the framework of a provision of service, situation that was made even more necessary in a liberalization context.
