EU: the European Trade Union Confederation adopts a resolution on digitalization

The European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) believes that public authorities at all levels as well as the social partners should seek to shape digitalization so that it is not subject to the vagaries of the market with only a certain few standing to benefit. In a resolution adopted last week by its executive committee, the ETUC is calling on the European Commission to adopt a directive over the right to a private life as well as a framework treating crowd working.

“The European Union needs to more actively contribute to the digitalization of the economy and of European society by way of political initiatives aimed at avoiding mass job losses and at ensuring quality job creation, and decent working conditions,” the ETUC declared. In a resolution adopted during the organization’s executive committee (08 and 09 June) the ETUC demanded:




  • a Directive on privacy at work at European level

  • an EU framework on crowd working to prevent the undermining or circumv
