EU: the social program of the German presidency of the European Union

Germany will chair the European Union from January 1st, 2007, succeeding to Finland. It has just exposed its agenda, opened its website, chosen a logo and a slogan: « together, we shall achieve Europe ». The promotion of flexicurity and the European social model as well as the pursuing of the work done for the portability of pension rights and health-security at work are on the agenda. (Ref. 061225)

The German government introduced, at the end of November, the work program that it intends to implement during its presidency of the European Council, from January 1st till June 30th, 2007, which will be marked by the 50th anniversary of the Rome Treaty.
