The International Union of Food, Agricultural, Hotel, Restaurant, Catering, Tobacco and Allied Workers' Association (IUF), as well as its European federation (EFFAT), launched a campaign to protect workers against the proven dangers of diacetyl, a food-flavoring chemical in artificial butter flavors. A request to review European legislation was sent to the European Commissioner in charge Employment and to the European Commissioner in charge of food security. (Ref. 080110)
