Finnish social partners presented, at the beginning of February 2008, a collective agreement which sets a general framework for local negotiations concerning the fight against stress on the workplace and, for that purpose, gives tracks to identify work-related stress, proposes prevention orientations and tackles the issue of stakeholders. This agreement implements the agreement on stress European social partners negotiated in 2004. (Ref. 080134)
Stress is an old issue in a country where public authorities have been caring about well-being at work for a long time, with the prospect to extend active life. Even if social partners played an important part in setting up these governmental policies, they never took direct action. The framework agreement on work-related stress, signed on October 8, 2004 by European social partners, gave the go for the reflection which led to a collective agreement on stress at work, presented on February 7.
