France: a new leadership team for the CGT and its initial steps in getting the organization battle fit

At the close of its executive committee meeting held on February 3 and 4 the CGT now has a new confederation bureau and at its head replacing Thierry Lepaon will be Philippe Martinez, the former secretary general of the metals federation FTM-CGT.  The new bureau has identified the initial areas needing its attention as it focuses on reconnecting with workers.

The new confederation bureau. The new bureau was approved on February 03 and the new secretary elected with an overwhelming 93.4% majority. The bureau (including its new leader) is composed of the following:

  • Fabrice Angei ( Public Services Federation) ;

  • Colette Duynslaeger (National Federation for Post and Telecommunications workers),

  • Virginie Gensel-Imbrecht (Mining and Energy Federation);
