On Friday 08 July, unions representing 80% of the votes cast during the latest elections signed a new triennial agreement running from 2017-2019. In it PSA commits to hiring 1,000 permanent employees between now and 2019 and also guarantees one million cars will be produced on average per year in France. In exchange, the auto group will make its work organization even more flexible and will include night-time working. Studies on working conditions will also be carried out.
The agreement called ‘a new boost for growth’ takes over from the ‘new social contract’, which was signed in 2013, and which saved Peugeot from bankruptcy (c.f. article No. 7878). Negotiated since May 2016, the agreement was signed by five out of six trade unions, which illustrates “social partners’ trust”, underlined Xavier Chéreau, Head of PSA Group HR, in a press statement.
