France: government seeks to make occupational equality a result requirement

On 07 March the government submitted for review by the social partners a number of approaches towards reform so that gender pay equality can become a result requirement. The government has set itself three years to close what is an inexplicable 9% pay gap.

Closing an unjustifiable gender pay gap approximating 9% within three years. The government is seeking to oblige companies with at least 250 staff to report gender pay gaps by 2019 and similarly for companies with at least 50 staff to report from 2020. A single methodology based on objective criteria is to be provided as the basis for this report.
