The CGT didn’t sign and mentions “an unprecedented social step backwards,” while the CFDT, which didn’t sign either, explains its decision by the fact that the management took no commitment to maintain employment and that no sanction is planned should PSA fail to fulfill its promises. Indeed, the CFDT says that “while efforts in terms of pay freeze and moderation affect all employees, additional efforts (pay and flexibility) mostly affect production staff, especially those who work in teams.”
…France: PSA Peugeot Citroën signs competitiveness agreement
The FO, CFE-CGC and CFTC unions officially announced their intention to sign the agreement on the “new social contract” negotiated with the carmaker’s management. This deal, which the company wanted to reconcile “the Group’s competitiveness imperatives and the employees’ interests,” provides for a pay freeze and moderation and increases flexible working time. Besides, it replaces 11 previous collective agreements and, in doing so, integrates the provisions on the generation contract, early workforce planning, the quality of life at work and social dialogue.
