Whereas France has just completed the transposition of the EU anti-discrimination directives (see our article No. 080405), the Parliament adopted, on June 5, 2008, a bill reforming civil prescription. It reduces the prescription period of legal proceedings because of discrimination from thirty to five years. (Ref. 080489)
The law introduces a new article to the Labor Code which states that “action for compensation of the prejudice resulting from discrimination has a five-year limit from the moment the discriminatory act is uncovered.” (Labor Code, article L. 1134-5).
