Germany: agreement signed to create an internal job portal at Volkswagen group

After the blow dealt by the ‘dieselgate’ scandal as well as the movement towards electric cars, the German automobile giant launched an extensive restructuring programme, which aims to reduce staff numbers in Germany by a maximum of 23,000. At the same time, the car giant also needs to find 9,000 new talents for new areas of activity. With this in mind, the company’s leadership and general works council have signed an agreement on the creation of an internal job exchange, open to employees of all the group’s brands. The portal has been active since the start of September.

More than 8,000 agreements on early retirement.
