Germany : BASF publishes the wages of the members of its works council

According to the joint announcement by BASF management and the WC, the 53 members of the latter earned in 2006 on average 60,000 €, ie around 2000 € more than the employees holding a similar function in the group. “The difference is due to the extra work done by the WC members”, explained to e-europnews a BASF spokesman. Most of them earned between 40,000 € and 80,000 € a year. Only a handful earned in 2006 wages from 100,000 € to 150,000 €. They already received this remuneration as supervisory staff before being elected to the works council, specified the spokesman.
