Germany: digitization is a massive challenge facing HR units (feedback from the German Association for Personnel Management congress)

How is the rapid rise in digitization changing business models and value chains? What is the impact on how work is organized? What is HR’s role in the face of the challenges that the digital revolution is raising? Over the course of two days (23, 24 February), almost 400 invitees, for the most part heads of large German businesses, discussed these issues during a congress organized by the German Association for Personnel Management (DGFP) in Berlin. The conclusion was that the digital revolution was well underway and that HR had a key role to play in supporting businesses during their transformation processes and also in defining the landscape of the new digital workplace. On top of this, HR structures, processes and instruments must also undergo their own digitization in order for companies to maintain competitiveness and to survive.
