As part of the transposition of the 2019 European Union Directive on Transparent and Predictable Working Conditions, Germany's Bundestag passed a law on 23 June 2022 that imposes new obligations on employers when it comes to drawing up employment contracts. Contracts are required to contain new information on working conditions and must be in paper form. Digital versions of employment contracts are no longer allowed, which has provoked anger from companies towards a government that had promised to speed up the digitisation of administrative procedures.
