Germany: few firms have a profit sharing system

According to a study introduced on September 5th, 2006 by the Research institute on the job market and trades (IAB), 9 % of German firms provide their employees with a profit-sharing system and 2 % grant a participation in the capital. (Ref 06859)

A third of the firms with more than 500 employees have a profit sharing system and/or participation in the capital for their personnel, but only 8 % of SME ’s (less than 50 employees) have set up such practices. « These proportions barely changed between 2001 and 2005 », according to the authors of the report, who think firms should use this opportunity: « By introducing profit sharing systems, they could increase their staff’s performances and attract a skilled and motivated workforce more eas
